This track was something that we were messing with in April. The general idea and melody were there, but no lyrics yet. Nick's Great Uncle Gene passed away later that month. At the repast, Gene's son Jack began talking about his father's time in the Korean war. Gene was an exceptional drummer and lore has it that he could make his drums "talk" when he used brushes. He kept a pair of brushes with him while he was overseas. At the next practice, the lyrics kind of fell into place.
The recording of "Korea" on this EP was originally a demo. We had plans to re-record, we just never did. We record all of our songs live (the music that is, with one extra guitar overdub, vox after), and there was something about this demo that just worked for us. The song basically falls apart at the end, and we're ok with that. We play it differently live now, but we didn't want to try to recapture anything, so this will serve as the recorded version of this track...
lyrics
One more day down...Korea.
You had your choice, you found your voice and let it go
You brushed away the time on your own
Cause it was yours to find
To find...
One more day down...Korea
You found your voice, you all had your choice and let it go
You brushed away the time on your own
Cause it was yours to find
When you let go, you said you'd take your time out on your own
Cause it was your to find
To find...
